- REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMITTALS
- Submit your design instructions under provisions of Section 01 30 00 – Administrative Requirements.
- Product Data: Manufacturer’s illustrated product literature and specifications to be used, including:
- Installation methods.
- Preparation instructions and recommendations.
- Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
- Shop Drawings: Submit your detailed drawings of products and assemblies.
- Selection Samples: For each finished signage product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer’s full range of available colors and patterns.
- Verification Samples: For each finished signage product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square representing actual product, color, and patterns.
- QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Manufacturer Qualifications: All sign fabrication within this section is to be performed / produced by a manufacturer with a minimum experience of producing 10,000 compliant signs as specified in the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG).
- Sourcing: All signage shall be manufactured by a single manufacturer.
- Mock-Up: Provide your mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
- Rework mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
- Finish areas designated by Architect.
- Do not proceed on any remaining work until workmanship is approved by Architect.
- ADA Accessibility Guideline Requirements: Signage shall comply with the ADA Accessibility Guidelines where applicable. Characters and graphics, including but not limited to, copy height, letter stroke, symbols, materials, and finishes indicated on the Drawings are intended as guidelines for compliance. Implement each applicable ADA Guideline. Should conflicts arise, notify the Architect before proceeding.
- DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
- Make sure to keep your interior signage/signage in a cool place which is free from sunlight and or heat.
- Inspect your interior signage materials at delivery to verify correctness.
- PROJECT CONDITIONS
- Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by the manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer’s recommended limits.
- SEQUENCING
- Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
- WARRANTY
- Manufacturer’s Warranty: Signage is guaranteed for the Life of the Property against defects in materials and workmanship.

- TACTILE AND BRAILLE REQUIREMENTS
- Manufacturer’s standard process for producing copy complying with ADA Accessibility Guidelines ICC/ANSI A117.1. Text shall be accompanied by Grade 2 Braille. Produce precisely formed characters free from burrs and cut marks.
- Panel Material: Thermoform acrylic sheet
- Raised-Copy Thickness: Not less than 1/32 inch (0.8 mm).
- For Grade 2 Braille copy, coordinate messages in conjunction with Graphic and Sign Schedule. Braille copy contained on drawings is for size and position only and shall not be used for full message.
- Pictograms and other ADA required symbols are maintained by the
Manufacturer in accordance with current International standards.

- EXAMINATION
- Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
- If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
- Complete all finishing operations, including paint curing, before beginning installation of signage systems
- PREPARATION OF SIGNAGE MATERIALS
- Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
- Verify mounting heights and comply with referenced standards
- INSTALLATION OF SIGNAGE MATERIALS
- Install in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and in proper relationship to adjacent construction.
- Locate the signage system as indicated on drawings for the appropriate substrate and in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions and in proper relationship to adjacent construction.
- Install signs level, plumb and at heights indicated, with sign surfaces free from distortion. Install signs in accordance with ADA guidelines on placement. Where otherwise not dimensioned, install signs where best suited to provide a consistent appearance throughout the Project. When exact position, angle, height or location is in doubt, contact the Architect for clarification.
- At completion of installation, clean exposed sign surfaces and adjoining surfaces.
- PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS
- Protect your installed products until completion of project.
- Signs shall be free of glue, fingerprints, dirt, grease and any other imperfections
- Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.

703.4 Installation Height and Location.
Signs with tactile characters shall comply with 703.4.
703.4.1 Height Above Finish Floor or Ground.
Tactile characters on signs shall be located 48 inches (1220 mm) minimum above the finish floor or ground surface, measured from the baseline of the lowest tactile character and 60 inches (1525 mm) maximum above the finish floor or ground surface, measured from the baseline of the highest tactilecharacter.
EXCEPTION: Tactile characters for elevator car controls shall not be required to comply with 703.4. 1.
703.4.2 Location.
Where a tactile sign is provided at a door, the sign shall be located alongside the door at the latch side. Where a tactile sign is provided at double doors with one active leaf, the sign shall be located on the inactive leaf. Where a tactile sign is provided at double doors with two active Leafs, the sign shall be located to the right of the right-hand door. Where there is no wall space at the latch side of a single door or at the right side of double doors, signs shall be located on the nearest adjacent wall. Signs containing tactile characters shall be located so that a clear floor space of 18 inches (455 mm) minimum by 18 inches (455 mm) minimum, centered on the tactile characters, is provided beyond the arc of any door swing between the closed position and 45-degree open position.
EXCEPTION: Signs with tactile characters shall be permitted on the push side of doors with closers and without hold-open devices.
